Kaltas ng budget ng State Universities and Colleges sa 2011

Sa kanyang tugon sa panawagan laban sa budget cut, ikinaila ng gubyernong Aquino na may budget cut sa mga SUCs. Dinagdagan pa umano ang pondo ng mga SUCs.

Heto ang katotohanan ayon mismo sa proposed GAA ng DBM para sa 2011: lahat pwera sa 15 na mga paaralan ay kakaltasan ng badyet para sa operations o maintenance and other operating expenses (MOOE). Ang iba lagpas 50% ang kaltas sa badyet sa operasyon. Ang kabuuang badyet para sa operasyon ay babawasan ng P1.1 billion, o 28.16%.

Ang pagbawas ng pondo para sa MOOE ay tiyak na magbubunsod ng pagtataas ng mga singilin sa paaralan at pagtaas ng matrikula.

Ilan sa mga babawasan ng higit sa kalahati ang operating budget ay ang mga sumusunod:

  • Southern Philippines Agri-Business & Marine and Aquatic School (-66.27%)
  • Southern Leyte State University (-64.03%)
  • Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (-57.96%)
  • Partido State University (-56.83%)
  • Nueva Vizcaya State University (-53.65%)
  • University of the Philippines (-51.85%)
  • Aurora State College of Technology (-51.84%)

Ang Polytechnic University of the Philippines, kung saan pumutok ang protesta nitong taon laban sa pagtaas ng matrikula ay tatagpasan din ng -20.53% o mahigit P23M sa operating budget.
